On Thursday, May 27th, The Hesperia Golf Team, along with ten other teams from nearby schools, participated in the MHSAA Boys Golf District #33 Tournament. It was held at Chase Hammond Golf Course in Muskegon and hosted by Muskegon Western Michigan Christian HS.

The boys who competed in the tournament were Collin Zeerip, Trey Gordon, Zach DeLonge, Tyler DeLonge, and Brandon Bordeaux.

“I think the course was very, very difficult and it played difficult. The scores were all very high for other schools and for our school,” replied Mr. Grodus when asked about the tournament. “I thought we did very well to be able to advance.”

The tournament started at 9:00 am with the teams placed in the waves and a shotgun start. There was a Coaches’ meeting at 8:30 am, and a Players’ meeting at 8:45 am. Hesperia’s schedule was as follows: Putting Green was 7:30-7:55; Restroom was 7:55-8:20; and Practice Range was 8:20-8:45.

Six of the eleven teams the competed advanced. The Hesperia Golf Team finished in fifth place, advancing onto Regionals. Regionals are where the top six teams from our district will play the top six teams from another district. The top three teams from each district will then move on. The date for Regionals is Thursday, June 3rd, and the rainout day it Friday, June 4th.

Taking fifth place, Mr. Grodus said, “I am very proud of our team for their achievement.”
