Former foreign exchange student, Ann Bohne, came to Hesperia High School for the 08-09 school year. Ever since she arrived back in Germany, she has been missing America. Ann admits that the first couple of days in Germany were very awkward, and it was hard getting back to the lifestyle she once knew. Ann is hoping to return to Hesperia in June 2010 to meet up with her friends, family, and former teachers.

Ann’s visit to America was an unforgettable one. The American way of life gave Ann a whole new perspective. For example, she was surprised to find out that the teachers in Hesperia were friendly and helpful, whereas in Germany, they are strict and unpleasant. While at Hesperia, she tried many competitive sports, and she wishes she could have continued them in Germany.

Currently, Ann is in her 11th year of school, with just two more years to go. “The easiest class for me is English, obviously. I have to say that I learned something in Mr. Cherry’s class, a lot of stuff that I am doing right now I had in Algebra II,” says Ann. “I do my best, but I liked school in America more. My first exam will be end of September and I think I will do well. I learned in America how to be more relaxed for things like that.”

After high school, Ann is planning to go to the University of Frankfurt, where she will study business/economics and journalism. She wants to take one year of foreign study in America, as well.

Ann concludes, “I just want to thank every teacher that I had. They were all very patient with me, even though some of them made fun of me because of my wonderful accent. I am also happy that I got to know such a funny counselor, Mr. Blue. I also want to thank my coaches for the great time that I had.”
